RAISE - the art and science of sustainable living
Dr Christian Taylor (BSc PhD Gen Cert Hort RHS). Christian is our scientist in residence who possesses an infectious enthusiasm for all living things. He teaches science in schools, colleges and universities (he is currently an associate lecturer for the Open University and Dartington College of Arts) and has a particular passion for micro-organisms especially those of the fungal kingdom. He believes passionately that it is through farming that most of the gains in wildlife conservation in this country will be made. Christian has an Applied Biology degree specialising Agroecology. His doctorate is in Ecological Sciences, and his involvement with local food initiatives in Bath ensured the establishment of farmers' markets across Britain.
Stephanie Taylor (BA Hons). Stephanie is RAISE's creative facilitator. Stephanie is a versatile, collaborative performance artist with a particular interest in inclusive process. She has been performing since graduating from Dartington College of Arts in 1993 as well as running the farm and its conservation projects and public events, teaching French and Spanish to children, working with role play and feedback in industry, performing with Heart's Tongue Theatre Company, singing in a choir, Glorious Chorus, and raising children! Her RAISE work involves the facilitation of 'total' events, group cohesion and experiential learning. Storytelling and play enable participants to get fully involved and to rediscover the magic of our rural heritage.
